Fueled by a recent shift into motherhood, Brit Schmid’s work juggles the constant paradoxes of matrescence. Her work is delicate, powerful and full of places to constantly explore. Brit tells us more about her practice in ART MAKER Issue 3:
"Motherhood has reshaped my creative lens, sharpening my focus on the contradictions of matrescence. I explore the invisible forces of hormones, shifting identity, and emotional tension through material choices. My ceramic and beaded works, Tethered and Letdown, reflect postpartum paradoxes—connection and loneliness, intimacy and isolation, pride and indignity."
We are incredibly honored to feature her work in ART MAKER Issue 3, scheduled for release in early Summer 2026.
