Lorena Bruno’s textile works beg to be touched.

While exploring themes of the body, desire, memory and nature, Lorena simultaneously creates work that explores the multifaceted layers of being human.

"In recent years, my research has turned inward, addressing what silently traverses the experience of being a woman — memory, ancestry, transformation, and the passage of time. Rather than illustrating narratives, my work engages with accumulation and duration, suggesting processes of absorption, erosion, and renewal that mirror both personal and collective experience.

"Materiality plays a fundamental role in my practice. Working primarily with tufting, alongside punch needle, felt, fiber assemblage, and occasional weaving, I build dense, tactile surfaces through an intuitive and physical process. These works are not conceived as decorative objects, but as invitations to pause — offering the viewer a sensorial encounter that encourages presence, sensitivity, and contemplation."

Lorena's work is featured in ART MAKER Issue 3, available in June 2026.
